the 100 is there

Yes ... the 100 is there ....
Please let me know if you know this
Malaguzzi poem .... ????

The Hundred Languages of Children
No way.
The hundred is there.
The child is made of one hundred.
The child has a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking.
a hundred, always a hundred
ways of listening
of marveling, of loving
a hundred joys
for singing and understanding
a hundred worlds to discover
a hundred worlds to invent
a hundred worlds to dream.
The child has a hundred languages
(and a hundred hundred hundred more)
but they steal ninety-nine.
The school and the culture
separate the head from the body.
They tell the child to think without hands
to do without head
to listen and not to speak
to understand without joy
to love and to marvel
only at Easter and Christmas.
They tell the child
to discover the world already there
and of the hundred
they steal ninety-nine.
They tell the child
that work and play
reality and fantasy
science and imagination
sky and earth
reason and dream
are things
that do not belong together.
And thus they tell the child
that the hundred is not there.
The child says
“No way – The hundred is there.”
Loris Malaguzzi
(translated by Lella Gandini)

I thought this appropriate for my 100th ...

I need to offer more experiences to Oscar ....
...Love him so much!
Look what I found this week - a trip to the post office
means we also visit the Salvo's ... oh what joy!

Austraila Day ...

Today has been "Australia Day" ...& this following link has
nothing to do with that!
..... I just 'had' to share
it!
It's for those of you who like

"a needle pulling thread!"
& busting a dance move!
You'll giggle or maybe just smile but it is worth it!
"Oh Austria ...
your hills are alive
with the sound of music!

1.2.3. Let's play ....

Come play....
"i.spy swap"
with me!

I joined in Care's I-Spy Swap back in Sept09
& had loads of fun both putting together my swap fabrics
& playing with the 200 squares when they all arrived!
Here is my layout so far for my
Picnic Rainbow I Spy Quilt ...
Care has put together another swap but .....
with only a few places available
sadly
they were all filled up

over night while I was sleeping!
So I missed out!
.... ahhh ohhhhh sniff!

&
So I'm putting together an "i.spy swap" for Aussies &
... International Swappers are most welcome also!

THE BASICS:

Post 200 squares to me by February 3rd.
Receive 200 squares in return,
all different,
by Valentine's Day!

Fun
Quick
Rewarding
& Easy!

THE DETAILS:

1- WHO? With the K.I.S.S principle in mind .... I'll keep this swap small-ish!
The first 19 people to leave a comment are in! If you're 'blog-less' then leave a comment anyway & sign your name then follow up with an email! artwendy@bigpond.net.au
[International Swappers are most welcome -- but please mail your fabrics a little earlier so there's plenty of time to meet our deadline! & I will invoice you the return postage via PayPal - so easy!]

All Aussies -- Please include a stamped self addressed envelope!
Copy & Paste my "Let's play... i.spy" button from above & attach to your side bar on your blog . . . tell your friends as they won't want to miss out ....

2 - Quantity? Cut 20 4" squares out of each of 10 different novelty print fabrics =200 A 1/4-yard (30cm) cut or fat quarter will get you x20 4" squares, so you will be purchasing a total of about 2 1/2 yards of fabric. This is NOTHING when you think about all the different squares you will be getting back!

3- Fabrics? Please choose fabric designs that you would like to receive yourself & be sure to pick FUN ones!... of quilting quality...
If you love it, the other swappers will love it too!

Remember that we are looking for fabric with 'i.spy' objects on it, not printy-prints. (A fabric with FLOWERS on it is very different from a FLORAL PRINT.) There are lots of great choices out there! Have fun!
No "licensed" prints: No Disney, Dora, Barbie, Footy, Basketball etc. Thankyou

4- Cutting! Remember the seam allowances are included! You're cutting all squares @4" . . . . but be sure you can clearly see the "i.spy" object within a central 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square!
Cut carefully to preserve each image -- This may mean you need to 'fussy-cut' & depending on your fabric choice, you may need to buy more than 1/4 yard (30cm) in order to get an object into each cut square.)

So 'Come & play",
simply leave a comment here
that includes your email address!!

FIRST 19 commenters are IN!
If you've never done a swap before this is the perfect one to start with!
I can hardly wait ... you can see I have a few more blank spots ...

I heart GREEN?

I've been reading a few blogs while waiting for my
gorgeous, lovely little boy to
..... eventually fall asleep ... 56 mins!!!! Ahhh

But how lovely is this ...
... some of my favourites in life & design coming together in the one piece!
How I'd treasure this ...
Found while catching up on Elsie's blog . . .
She sourced it from here!
OK ... so I'm back in Melbourne town
... got a few things on my mind ...
Working on sorting out 'stuff' ...
... " but now, doesn't that feel cleansing?"
Did you clean out some things too?
... & now I really need to
switch my creative brain back
"ON"
I did manage a few creative things while at the river ...
... Planned layout of Rainbow I-Spy Picnic Patchwork Quilt
... Some Crochet just for fun,
worked some more on the green blanket & taught a friend the 'How to'
.... Cut up lots more squares for my Tonal Value Quilt ...

.... the journey was ENjoyED !!!!
