i am the Lorax. i speak for the trees

"at the far end of town
where the Grickle-grass grows
... is the street of the Lifted Lorax"
there is a favourite story about these parts
its Dr Seuss' "The Lorax"
(in case you hadn't quite picked that up!?)
its so well loved that it was the theme for
Oscar's 5th Birthday celebrations held recently
"..... I came to this glorious place.
And I first saw the tress!
The Truffula Trees!
The bright-coloured tufts of the Truffula Trees!
Mile after mile in the fresh morning breeze."
the Onceler was there, seeds planted
a game or two  .... pin the mustache on the Lorax
some dancing to the "bad song" .... & others from
the soundtrack to "The Lorax" the movie ...
 "But those trees! Those trees!
Those Truffula Trees!
All my life I'd been searching
for trees such as these.
The touch of their tufts
was much softer than silk.
And they had the sweet smell
of fresh butterfly milk."
 the party table was set
with a valley of green
mini truffula trees
made with pom poms & skewers
party food to match
with barbaloot bears & humming fish

  "UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better.
Its not."
i so love the multiple messages within the story
of the Lorax ....
with hindsight, the Onceler is regretful about his greed
there is an environment that we are given to care for
you, me ..... it always starts with the 'little' people of the world
 & there is always hope
it reminds me that really so much of what we have
we really don't NEED ....
lots of lovely little friends joined in the fun
for in our village, there is always time to celebrate
these small kids & their families
are all part of our heart-felt 'village' & we love you
oooh ... check out this spunky Lorax dress made
especially to be worn to this party!!
how time flies - blink & your baby has turned 5 years old!
a No.5 cake, which when cut, was all
green & orange & chocolate swirls
with some green-grickle-grass
& 5 carefully picked Truffula Tree Red Velvet Cake Pops
mmmm .... yum!

there were party loot bags with goodies
& truffula seeds & more barbaloots
special spontaneous moments with a grand-fatherly 'reading'
we love you so much Oscar
so while you are slowly 'biggering' & 'biggering'
we hope you grow & learn & love & enJOY
... its your journey & we love having fun with you!

lately ...

there was some Wendy dress wearing
on a boat on a harbor with a bridge & opera in the background
a lovely hotel was stayed at
adored the carpets!
there was some arcade wandering
a most enjoyable escape treat
some wedge tree branch bites
were painted
 there was another mighty
 an in-house market night
with a great big tups sell-off
which was more like a party party & great fun
only a handful of little skirts remaining
 some thinking has been done
few changes are being made to the whole
hARTylittlepeaces making/selling part of what i do
not making some things & starting on some new
& now there's an
how exciting!
which will always be a work in progress
& has already
had great orders with happy customers
there will be lots more handmade & sewn items in the new year
including my unique ooak ... little softie
'Pocket Buddies'
now available at Shop Handmade
 they are cute little buddies
that can be used for a whole host of things
you just never know when you lose that front tooth
.... you'll need a Pocket Buddy to keep it safe
until the tooth fairy visits ....
oooh yeah .... cute huh!
as i said .... ooak & it's also my ip ....
love these whiskers
oh & this is still a wip
but won't take me long
little humble gift
a scrappy log cabin quilt
love this free form
you've seen this style plenty from me before
its all about working those little 'peaces'
for a true friend who has been on a wonderful
interesting challenging journey of growth
with me this year xo
so a little gift when words are not enough
there is more in store for this journey i am sure
in fact there have been lots of moments
when words have not been enough
there was a great man in my husband's life
there was a fitting goodbye
& there was a new family member introduced
baby Oscar 5 wks met our Oscar
Definitions:
ooak = One Of A Kind
a unique, individual, often handmade item
of which there is no other the same!

ip = intellectual property!

ps - if you like these buy one

14 years

today's anniversary is one of the great markers in my life
today 14 years ago i married my best friend
marriage is that great binding promise of a future together
of making a life as one ...
counting back the years .... all part of
our journey ... be sure to enJOY yours
as the years seem to slip by fast ...
 i love tulips .... had 100's everywhere
still love my dress ....
might do the whole bridesmaids dress thing differently now
.... but that's how it goes
.... we were married at our Church
Ashburton Baptist ....
same place my parents were married
my dad & I entered a full, actually over flowing church ... people standing
the sound of all those voices in song ....
wonderful memories ...
Oscar thinks i'm a princess .... awhhh
(took me some time but i recently worked out
that when he refers to a 'princess' ... he means a bride!)
thankyou my husband xxoo

soul deep, reap, sow & sewn, blessed

 everyone feels loss
last week we said goodbye to a family member
the celebration was full of colour & great memories
it was an honor to have known her
in my first memories of her, she was a princess
the bride of my eldest cousin
she was someone with whom you could connect
in an honest 'true self' way
she was a woman who reaped what she sowed
no pretense or hiding behind histories & no games
just real thoughtful gracious caring heart-felt godly living
49 is too early when you look from the outside in
but she was ready to meet her maker
so many loved ones before her to greet her & welcome her home
& where she will revel in the celebration of her kingdom come
she has run the race & fought the good fight
she has kept the faith
God speed KGS
i choked & stumbled in my own humanity
in saying a humble goodbye
& watched in awe how her very near & dear
found such strength
A, R, M & E you are amazing
times at BH will always be cherished i am sure
so to this extended family of mine
who've 'had their moments'
let us get on with living
remembering & celebrating
but truly living ...
& to all my old & new friends
you are a gift in my life
treasured gold
lately i've been stuck with
a pounding in my ears ...
in a mix of the good & not so
of exhausted unnecessary energies,
sunshine-y days spent with toes buried in river sand & mud
that add up to the usual
summer creative slump
(PS: i saw another sausage dog ... are they reminding me?)
& of course the loss of the above mentioned
wonderful lady ...
but also grieving the
lost opportunities of family times
that could have been
& i haven't been able to focus creatively
on what 're-charges' me!
have you noticed some silence here?
last night i was able to make a start
i turned my overflowing
fabric scrap box out on the table
& pieced (while at SAY) ... piece by peace!
i see a kind of symbolism here:
in the taking the parts of the old
& making them into something new
it was good
today is a new day

music always swells my emotion & often surfaces
the essence of my thoughts in words
that i can't perhaps voice on my own
here's a current favourite verse

Throw your soul through every open door

Count your blessings to find what you look for
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold
You'll pay me back in kind and reap just what you've sown

buried treasure:

my draft that has been patiently waiting to be un-leashed since the night before Christmas ...
it was supposed to be my 100th post for 2011 ... i wrote 99!
not a bad batting average i'd say!
(think i just never came upon the 'right' image & the day rolled on & we rolled into summer days!)
but hello .... i'm back:
day 12 of 12: gold, frankincense & myrrh
3 wise men spotted a star in the east ...
... they traveled afar
to meet the new born king
i love a bit of boney m ...
a ray of hope flitters in the sky
a shiny star lights up way up high
all across the land dawns a brand new morn
this comes to pass when a child is born
a silent wish sails the seven seas
the winds that changed have whispered in the trees
and the walls of doubt crumble tossed & torn
this comes to pass when a child is born
and all of this happened
because the world is waiting
waiting for one child
its all a dream, an illusion now
it must come true, sometime soon somehow
all this & i just want to say that =
my cup runneth over
& how thankful i am to be so blessed
Happy Happy Christmas peoples!!
this pic of the 3 of us was taken yesterday
at am extended family bbq ....
so after 2 weeks of being in the hot summer echuca sunshine
my pink hair looks rather sunbleached!
& there was no blowdrying it straightish either!!
it's happy ...

age is just a number baby!

aren't you like 40 already!
i kind of feel like i was busy living life
& suddenly the decades have slipped by ...
but you know it is all good!
had a little party last night with a few friends & family
was great fun
loved my gorgeous birthday cake
made by my super talented friend Naden ...
Thankyou so much!!
4 candles - one for each decade
i wanted to say some stuff to them all
about how much they mean to me
how much i love them
how i feel truly blessed having such quality people in my life
i figure they in their make up of the how i know them, actually reflects my life
its taken me 2 weeks to 'take' to the concept of turning 40
but i think i've done with style & a little sparkle!!

what makes the sum of us?
can a person's life be summed up with statistics?
this is kind of what i had to say last night...
in some interactive way i listed a bunch of my  life's stats ...
